A FAILING East Cowes care home will close its doors in two week's time.

The Isle of Wight Council has been informed by the proprietors of Solent View Residential Care Home of their intention to close, on 6 July 2018.

The home was rated inadequate by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in April, and placed into special measures.

Over the past three months the council, Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and provider have worked closely together to try to address the CQC’s findings.

The inspection led to the home not accepting any new residents, resulting in them operating at a financial loss. The home currently has 13 residents.

The financial position now means the home cannot improve and must close.

The CQC issued a notice to cancel registration based on their inspection and Solent View cannot legally trade beyond 31 July 2018.

A full review of the residents’ needs will be undertaken, involving their families and advocates.

A social worker from the council has been at the home this week, working with residents and their families to identify alternative homes for people.

The assessment process from those providers is underway and the council will continue to provide support to ensure residents, including those who it does do not fund, remain safe and well cared for.

The provider remains committed to ensuring the residents’ care and support needs are met.
