VISITORS hoping to see a lifeboat launch were left disappointed yesterday evening.

Bembridge RNLI hoped to launch the boat as part of a training exercise however, there was a problem getting the boat to tilt.

After trying a number of different methods to resolve the problem, spectators were asked to leave in case more drastic measures were taken.

Shore crews joined crews on the foredeck, providing the extra weight needed to unstick the boat and start the tilt sequence again.

The RNLI filmed the second launch for those who may have missed it:

The boat will be launching again on Saturday August 11, around 12.30pm, as part of the Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat Open Day.
