AN ISLE OF WIGHT woman is looking to find a group of good Samaritans who helped her after she was stung by a wasp and suffered anaphylactic shock.

Inez Newman, of Yarmouth, was driving a Land Rover with a trailer cross Yarmouth Green to collect a boat her family were going to prepare for last Saturday's Yarmouth Carnival Parade.

She explained: "I was attacked as I was lifting the boat on the trailer. I said a choice word and carried on strapping the boat down.

"As I started to drive off I started coughing and realised I didn’t have much breath, then started to feel light headed and with a shocking pain in my chest and head.

"I couldn’t get any breath in, I realised I was in trouble and knew I wouldn’t make it home so pulled over to the side of the road and got out and asked two ladies to help me as I then collapsed on The Green.

"I remember a man who was a off duty policeman on holiday holding my hand and talking to me, a doctor who called the Ambulance Service to hurry them along, an off-duty Coast Guard from Bembridge and I think an off-duty Paramedic.

"So all in all I was in incredible hands. The ladies who looked after the boys were angels and they called my husband Andrew, who is a member of the Yarmouth Lifeboat crew.

"He called his crew-mates and four of them came running to help.

"Once the paramedic turned up he gave me some intravenous drugs which sorted me out and then they took me off to A&E.

"All in all a very horrible afternoon, I thought I was a gooner. But I was surrounded by amazing people. I didn’t get to thank the holiday makers and the off duty Coast Guard, and feel truly sorry, as they were wonderful."

Inez added: "I was stung once before about three years ago, but I'm told it's the second sting your body reacts to.

"I've been to the doctor's now and I carry an EpiPen with me at all times."
