BURGLARS broke into a Sandown convenience store in the early hours of this morning (Saturday), stealing vodka and cigarettes.

Police have launched an investigation following the burglary, at the Central convenience store in Perowne Way.

An Isle of Wight police spokesperson said: "The burglary happened between 2.45am and 3.10am this morning.

"The thieves forced a door that leads to the back of the shop.

"Nothing in the actual shop itself was taken or disturbed but from the back rooms a small amount of cash, some packets of cigarettes including Rothmans and other brands, along with three bottles of Smirnoff Vodka were taken."
