THE Isle of Wight Council is hitting the road, and holding cabinet meetings across the Island.

It is part of efforts of senior councillors to tackle more local issues and Thursday’s cabinet meeting will be in Brading.

In addition to the formal meetings, which are open to the public, members will also privately meet with representatives from nearby town and parish councils.

Council leader Councillor Dave Stewart said: "We’re very keen to make sure we’re at the heart of our local communities.

"This move will help us engage more closely with the public and with those serving on town and parish councils all over the Island.

"We’re encouraging people to get in touch about topics they wish us to consider."

Next Thursday’s meeting at St Mary’s the Virgin Church Hall, Brading, starts at 5pm.

The agenda can be viewed online.

Following Thursday’s meeting, cabinet members will meet with town and parish representatives from Brading, St Helens and Bembridge.
