A RYDE couple who married in 1952 and later divorced have tied the knot again — 66 years after they first wed.

John Martin, 90, and Doreen, 88, both born on the Isle of Wight, were married at a ceremony at Annefield Grange care home, Ryde.

Doreen, a former nurse, said: “I feel great” — and John quipped: “It’s a new experience.”

The couple divorced in 1978 and Doreen remarried before divorcing again and returning to John.

Doreen nursed all over the Isle of Wight, including a spell as a Marie Curie nurse, while John is a former aircraft engineer with the British Hovercraft Corporation.

The couple have two children, Paul and Melodie, three grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph and Jacob, and two great grandchildren, Dexter and Otis.

They hosted a small celebration for family and friends after the ceremony.
