A CENTENARY celebration of some women being given the right to vote was held in East Cowes today (Saturday).

The parade, organised by the town's WI, saw women and girls, many dressed in the historic costumes of the women's suffragette movement, walk from the town's Jubilee Recreation Ground to King's Square, led by members of the Wight Diamonds Marching Band.

The parade passed by shops adorned with wreaths made in memory of inspiring women.
