A MILK churn and pair of ornamental dogs have been stolen from the same area of Lake.

The brazen thefts of such large items are being investigated by police.

White marble Chinese Dogs of Foo were taken from the boundary of the Merrie Garden pub on around August 30.

Each statue weighed half a ton and it is thought they were loaded on to a flatbed truck during daylight hours.

The milk churn was taken from outside the front door of the Merrie Garden pub sometime between 2pm on Thursday, September 13 and 2pm on Friday, September 14.

General manager Sean Vernall said: "I am disappointed that these items have been stolen from right outside our pub.

"They are sentimental to not only the pub but the Merrie Garden farm it once was.

"It is such a shame for these sorts of crimes to be happening on our Island. Hopefully we will find them."

The milk churn was chained to the wall and the chain had been cut with bolt cutters.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police. The crime reference number for the milk churn is 44180352277 and the number for the Chinese dogs is 44180348870.
