PROPERTIES in the PO30 area have been left without power this afternoon (Tuesday).

More than 50 postcode areas are affected.

Southern and Scottish Electricity Networks (SSEN) has apologised for the loss of supply.

A spokesperson from SSEN said: "We currently have a fault affecting the PO30 area. Our engineers are on site working to get the power back on as quickly as we can."

Those affected can call 0800 072 7282 and quote reference 'ES9373' for more information.

UPDATE 12.45pm: A spokesperson from SSEN confirmed that 405 properties are currently without power.

This is due to overhead electric cables being down off Calbourne Road.

To ensure the safety of the local community, SSEN isolated supplies to investigate the fault and make repairs.

Engineers estimate electricity will be restored to these properties by 3pm.

The spokesperson said: “We would like to thank customers on the Isle of Wight for their patience as we make repairs to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.

"We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience this power cut is causing and reassure them we are doing all we can to restore their supplies as quickly as we can."

Customers who notice damage to the electricity network should call SSEN on 105 to report it, or visit their website.
