TWO Good Samaritans rescued a man from the sea at Ventnor yesterday (Wednesday).

A UK Coastguard spokesperson said a member of the public called for help shortly after 4pm after spotting three people in the sea near the pumping station — the man in difficulty and his two rescuers.

The coastguard helicopter, Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the scene, but the man had been helped ashore before they arrived.

An Isle of Wight Ambulance Service spokesperson said all three were checked over at the scene.
