NEWPORT Parish Council has changed its name to include Carisbrooke.

Following a public consultation, the move was unanimously supported at last night's (Wednesday) full council meeting.

It will now be called Newport and Carisbrooke Parish Council.

Parish council chair, Cllr Geoff Brodie, and vice chair, Cllr Julie Jones-Evans, said it was a fitting way to mark the council's tenth anniversary.

Cllr Brodie said Carisbrooke was the historic centre of the Island and it was only right it was included.
