From Mr M. White, Newport:

When I talk to my friends on Isle of Wight issues the majority are always complaining they cannot get doctors appointments, cancellations at the hospital, dentists, the traffic which is near on gridlocked and not only at rush hour , and the cremation of loved ones which is taking up to three weeks.

But then you read in the local press and you can see for yourself when driving round the Island the construction of new builds and new estates is high; which are being approved by the Isle of Wight Council.

Don't the Isle of Wight councillors realise that more houses means more people, more traffic, more waste and more deaths?

The infrastructure now cannot cope its at bursting point yet all the council are doing is adding to a chronic problem.

We need more councillors the like of Jeff Manners who had the guts to stand up for what he believed in, in the council chamber.

He was not everybody's cup of tea, but he was not a puppet.

All I say to the council is to stop the volume of new builds until we have infrastructure in place to cater for a higher population; and if it means falling out with government so be it, but is has got to stop.
