MORE rubbish has been dumped illegally at Isle of Wight beauty spots this weekend — the most recent find blocking the Tennyson Trail entrance.

Graham Lee, volunteer with Badger Trust Isle of Wight, found black drain pipes, milk cartons, snack wrappers, what appears to be asbestos tiles and other general roofing job waste between Brook and Chessell on Friday.

He said: "Whoever is doing this has no respect for the countryside and the wildlife who live there or dog walkers and responsible vehicle owners who use the byways."

The Tennyson Trail byways are closed to all motor vehicles without an Isle of Wight Council permit, but Graham applies every year to take senior and less mobile members of the Badger Trust, who cannot access the scenery on foot, along the Tennyson Trail.

He said: "I take them along the Tennyson Trail so they can enjoy the wildlife and the stunning views from high up above the countryside.

"They are unable to walk the Trail so this permit gives them the freedom to explore and enjoy a countryside outting from the comfort of my Land Rover Discovery."

As access to the most scenic part of the route is now blocked, Graham's trip will most likely be cancelled and postponed until next season as the permit expires next weekend.

Environmental Health have been made aware of the incident and those who have any information should contact 823000.
