SAILINGS have been cancelled on Red Funnel's East Cowes to Southampton service this evening following a collision between the vehicle ferry, Red Falcon and a motor boat off Calshot.

The accident happened this afternoon and was witnessed by another vessel. The craft went to help the motor boat and stayed alongside until Calshot lifeboat arrived.

The motor boat was then escorted to Cowes although it made the journey under its own power.

It was met by coastguard rescue teams and was found to have four people on board. They were checked over by ambulance crews and released.

The 9pm sailing from East Cowes has been cancelled, as was the 7.15 service from Southampton for operational reasons according to the company's twitter account.

On Thursday, ferry crossings were cancelled between East Cowes and Southampton following a collision between the vehicle ferry, Red Eagle and a yacht.
