ISLAND line services are being reduced this afternoon (Wednesday) after one of the two trains broke down.

Island Line said the train broke down in a position whereby the line is clear, so the other train can maintain a reduced timetable.

The timetable will be reduced to an hourly service.

Trains are now scheduled for xx:18 from Shanklin to Ryde Pier Head and xx:49 from Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin.

A spokesperson for the rail company said disruption is expected until 4pm today.

UPDATED 16:56: Island Line said disruption was expected until the end of service today. The company posted an update on Twitter shortly after 3.40pm, advising passengers alternative bus services were available and apologising for any inconvenience caused.
