THE STUDENTS of Newchurch and Nettlestone Primary Schools set off on their annual Federation Sponsored Walk last week.

This is a gruelling nine mile walk for both schools, with Newchurch tackling climbs over Brading Downs.

Both schools start at their respective school, meet at Brading Football Club for lunch then walk back to their own school.

Adam Tuck, teacher at Newchurch Primary School, said: "The Federation Walk is a fantastic event which not only raises money for charities but also provides a real challenge for our children.

"This year, our focus is on 'Mission Possible' and saying 'I can' to any challenge thrown our way. Over 200 children plus their parents and family members completed the walk."

This year, the walk raised money for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice and Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning, with walkers wearing yellow and cake sales taking place in various locations.
