TIME is running out to apply to become Red Funnel's charity of the year for 2019.

With only a week or so remaining, Red Funnel is urging local community and environmental charities to apply to be the company's chosen charity next year.

The Isle of Wight ferry specialist supports over 30 charities, but each year it focuses its initiatives on one charity, which is ultimately chosen in a public vote.

Debbie Reed, Red Funnel's HR director, said: "2019 marks the fifth year of the scheme and in that time, we have raised more than £200,000 and worked with some superb charities including UKSA, Ability Dogs 4 Young People, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and this year's charity, the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary."

To meet the criteria for Red Funnel's Charity of the Year, organisations need to be a registered charity, to have been in operation for at least 12 months, aim to support the local community or environment and share the company's commitment to 'Red goes Green' by operating in an environmentally sustainable and sympathetic manner.

The closing date for entries is next Friday (26). Once submitted, Red Funnel's business exchange will meet the shortlisted charities and three will be selected for a public vote.
