A STALWART volunteer who donated his time to the Arts Society Isle of Wight for more than 20 years was celebrated at the society's 36th AGM as he retired from voluntary service.

David Blundell was presented with an elegant salver by the current chair of the society, Lesley Stannard, at the beginning of the meeting.

David served the society as hon treasurer from 1997 to 1998, followed by 20 years as hon decretary.

A society spokesperson said: "Eight chairmen appreciated his legal background and efficiency, but he will be remembered fondly by the committee for his wit and humour."
