NORTHWOOD House will be transformed into a series of magical spaces this weekend for the Isle of Wight Literary Festival's Youth Zone.

From an 'entertaining space' to an 'imagining space', from making to creating to thinking, the weekend will encourage young people to get involved with words.

Among those aiming to inspire the young is best-selling children's illustrator, Helen Oxenbury, famous for the beautiful drawings in We're Going on a Bear Hunt.

The characters from the book have been making their way across the Island throughout the summer and they head to the festival for a final bear hunt adventure in the grounds of Northwood House.

Local storyteller, Sue Bailey, will open both days with a 'Great Telling Off', where students from Island schools have been challenged to create a story.

Other activities will include tree climbing, creating robots from scrap to battle each other, constructing comic book strips and and building your own puppet.

Isle of Wight favourites, such as Jules Marriner, creator of Fidget the Owl children books, and Vicki Lutas, an Emmy award winner for her Netflix show Rein, also have slots throughout the weekend.

Events run from 10am on Saturday to 4.30pm on Sunday and tickets are available from the website.
