April 4, 2001 15:01: THE mother of a disruptive Bromley schoolboy is taking a teachers' union to the High Court this week in a bid to force its members to teach her son.

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is being taught in isolation at Bonus Pastor RC School, Winlaton Road, Bromley, after school governors overturned headteacher, Michael Cullinane's, decision to expel him.

Teachers belonging to the National Association of School Teachers and Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) refuse to teach the youth because of allegations of physical and verbal abuse against staff at the church run school.

The schoolboy's mother is challenging the union's right not to teach the teenager by asking the High Court to declare the industrial action illegal.
