VOLKSWAGENS from across Britain and Europe descended on the Isle of Wight over the weekend for the seventh annual V-Dub Island festival.
And organisers said that this year's show, staged at the Isle of Wight Festival site at Fairlee proved to be the best ever.
Thousands of revellers and scores of historic Volkswagen cars and vans were at the colourful event which featured live music from top acts and perennial favourites such as the 'Show and Shine' competition where owners vied with one another to be judged top vehicle.
There was also the Run to the Surf V-Dub Island competition set against the background of the Needles in Compton Bay.
Other events included 'cooking in a camper' where budding chefs tried to rustle up gourmet meals in their vans against the clock.
On Saturday, the Drive Out saw around 500 vans leave the Fairlee site in the morning and travel in groups to the 'Back of the Wight' ending up at Isle of Wight Pearl.
The Island attraction teamed up with organisers this year to raise funds for the Isle of Wight charity, KissyPuppy with the sale of limited edition bracelets for £28 with £5 going to the charity's work on the Island.
One of the organisers, Airon Baker, said: "We had some amazing vehicles attending from all round the country and Europe and this year's show was the best one so far."
