FOLLOWING the death of a customer, Wightlink crew have donated their Extra Mile award money to the British Heart Foundation.
Despite the efforts of the team, and fellow passenger Stuart Brown who performed the initial CPR, the customer died whilst on the catamaran on April 7.
Captain Mark O'Ferrall, chief officer Joe Davis, and crew members Dave Hall and Jon Cornell were on board at the time.
Wightlink has doubled the value of the award to £400 and will be donating it to the charity.
Wightlink's chief executive, Keith Greenfield, said: "The crew of the Wight Ryder II responded very professionally during the traumatic incident and we are very proud of them.
"Our Extra Mile award recognises staff who put customer care first and we are pleased to honour their request to make a donation to the British Heart Foundation."
