A 25 year old man has appeared in court over the Shanklin hammer attack.
Jak Dylan Wilkie of Bridge Road, Cowes, appeared before Island magistrates today (Saturday) charged with one count of aggravated burglary and two of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
His court appearance follows the previously reported attack on Wednesday at a flat in Atherley Road, Shanklin, when police said two men wielding a hammer and a baton assaulted a 27 year old man and stole cash.
The victim was treated and discharged from St Mary's Hospital.
Mr Wilkie was remanded in custody to appear again in court on November 6.
Police say they are continuing their inquiries.
