Cowes Enterprise College student seriously injured in fall

A STUDENT at Cowes Enterprise College has been injured after a fall from height. 
Police were called to the school in Crossfield Avenue at 12.57pm today (Wednesday). 
A spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.57pm to reports of a teenage girl suffering serious injuries understood to be as a result of a fall from height at Cowes Enterprise College.
"The injuries are not deemed life-threatening.
"Officers are on scene at this time, but the circumstances are not being treated as suspicious." 
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was called to the school, along with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
* Rachel Kitley, principal of Cowes Enterprise College, said: "All of our thoughts and prayers are with our student and her family and friends at this difficult time.
"All of us across our school community are of course incredibly worried and would ask that the family and the school's privacy is respected. 
"As an academy we are providing every help we can for our students and staff, including making professional counselling available."
An Isle of Wight NHS Trust spokesperson said: "The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service attended an incident at Cowes Enterprise College. A 15-year-old female student with injuries consistent with a fall was conveyed to St Mary's Hospital.
"The patient was treated in the emergency department for serious but not life threatening injuries and has been admitted to hospital.”
