COWES RNLI lifeboat station has benefitted from a fundraising effort by Cowes-based Seasafe Systems.
Seasafe, which specialises in marine safety clothing and other marine products, had nominated the RNLI to benefit from the company’s scheme to service boat-owners’ lifejackets.
Many operators of the 60 collection points across the country opted to give their commission to the charity.
A cheque for £500 was presented by Seasafe managing director Jeremy Dale to the lifeboat station’s operations manager, Mark Southwell.
“We very much appreciate a local company supporting the RNLI in this way,” Mark said.
“Lifejackets are so important for sea safety, which is why we were pleased to find in a survey last summer that lifejackets were worn by nearly 50 percent of boat users in Cowes Harbour.”
