HIGH winds this morning (Thursday) disrupted cross-Solent travel.
Commuters were forced by the gusting conditions to switch from Hovertravel to Wightlink ferries as the Ryde-Southsea route remained suspended.
Wightlink and Red Funnel said they were running to timetable.
And the Met Office said after a cloudy and wet start, with occasionally heavy rain, strong winds with coastal gales would clear all but the far south-east around midday.
It will become increasingly cold with fresh northwesterly winds developing but the Island is expected to escape weekend snow.
High winds here are part of Storm Caroline, the brunt of which is being felt in Scotland.
