THE Isle of Wight Council has pledged to crackdown on abandoned vehicles which are a 'blight on our landscape'.
The cabinet discussed the issue last Thursday and said it was important to send a clear message to those responsible for the vehicles.
Traffic officers will now be encouraged to put stickers on abandoned vehicles to demonstrate to the public that the council is aware of the problem and is dealing with it.
However, councillors did not explain how they would actually tackle the problem.
Cllr Dave Stewart, leader of the Isle of Wight Council, said: "Abandoned vehicles are a bugbear for the Isle of Wight and they have become a blight on our landscape. The issue needs to be addressed.
"Those responsible, take this as your first warning - they need to go now.
"We are determined to remove this situation."
