COWES Week will go with a bang this year.
The famous firework display has been rescued by the week’s recently-announced title sponsor Lendy — The Property Forum.
The finale — to be named Lendy Cowes Week Fireworks — will goes ahead, after months of speculation about its future.
Cowes Fireworks Committee — formed of regatta organisers, Cowes Week Ltd, Cowes Town Waterfront Trust, the Isle of Wight Council, Cowes Town Council and Cowes Business Association — thanked Lendy and all those who supported the fundraising effort.
In addition to Lendy, key supporters of the week this year are Red Funnel, Cowes Week Ltd, Cowes Town Council, local yacht clubs and Cowes Town Waterfront Trust.
The display has taken place on the final Friday of Cowes Week since the very earliest days of the regatta and is viewed by many as an intrinsic part of the onshore festivities.
This year’s display will take place on Friday August 4 at 9.30pm
Cowes Week Ltd commercial and marketing director Kate Johnson said: “We’re thrilled that Lendy has not only committed to an initial three year title sponsorship of Cowes Week but also that the peer-to-peer investment company has agreed to be the primary supporter of this year’s display.
“Those watching the fireworks display this year may notice a predominant blue theme, as a thank you to Lendy, who use blue as their prime brand colour.”
Lendy co-founder and director Liam Brooke said: “We’re very pleased to be able to provide funding to enable the traditional firework display to go ahead.
“The fireworks are synonymous with Cowes Week.  We wouldn’t have wanted them not to have not gone ahead in the first year of our title sponsorship.”
Visitors to Lendy Cowes Week on Friday, August 4 will also enjoy the additional entertainment provided by a display from from the iconic Red Arrows at 7.30pm, supported by Artemis Investment Management.
