UPDATED 12.30
A NEW barrier will be installed at St Mary's Hospital today (Monday).

It will be located near the mini roundabout, close to the South Block, in a bid to prevent motorists from using the hospital site as a 'rat run' and cutting through to Dodnor Lane.
Only Isle of Wight NHS Trust vehicles will be able to lift the barrier, meaning staff and patients needing to access the car park and buildings behind it will have to drive around via the roundabout near to B&Q.
A new number plate recognition system will be brought in soon, meaning people can pay for parking on exit with cash, card or via an app.
There will be a short time allowance for those dropping people off at hospital or parents visiting the site's nursery.
Charges remain the same for disabled drivers.
UPDATE: The trust has now postponed the installation.
A spokesperson said work on the barrier could not go ahead due to unforeseen circumstances, but did not provide further information
"The Isle of Wight NHS Trust will provide an update as soon as we receive an update from our car parking and security contractor APCOA Parking UK Ltd, in the meantime APCOA’s Car Parking and Security Staff will continue to stop vehicles that use St Mary’s site as a ‘short-cut’ until the barrier is installed."
