May 1, 2001 13:32: LAST year you placed a letter of mine in your paper, reference trying to trace family and friends of 1322634 Sergeant Arthur William Sayers, Air Bomber, RAF.
He was in a crew of six which perished when their aircraft, a Wellington bomber, crashed in flames near Lake Vyrnwy in North Wales, in the morning of May 15, 1943.
The aircraft was from 27 Operational Training Unit (O.T.U.) based in Lichfield.
I have now completed a memorial picture dedicated to the crew of the Wellington.
The picture is to hang in the Tavern Inn which is part of the Vyrnwy Hotel complex which overlooks the lake.
I would like to try and contact a few more relations and friends and invite them to an unveilling memorial day to be held on August 18 at the Tavern Inn. All I know of the next of kin is his father and mother were Arthur Herbert and May Agnes Sayers of Belvedere, Kent. Sgt Sayers is buried at Woolwich, Plumstead plot A1211.
