THE DEPUTY animal manager for the Isle of Wight Zoo will take on a skydive in a bid to help adopt a new tiger.
Carolyn Lorek, 30, of Flitcroft Gardens, Lake, is due to complete the skydive on September 24 and is hoping to raise £2,000.
All sponsorship will be donated to the Wildheart Trust which is trying to raise the £50,000 needed to build a new tiger enclosure at the zoo.
She said: "I am absolutely terrified of heights and I wanted to push myself, and my boundaries, to show my dedication to the tigers.
"I am very nervous, and I did get a phone call from my mum trying to convince me to not complete it."
Carolyn has worked at the zoo for five years, starting as a summer intern when she was a zoology student at Aberystwyth University.
After graduating, she became a cover keeper, before being promoted to cat keeper and eventually deputy animal manager.
She said: "I've always wanted to work with carnivores. I just love tigers, I think they are so majestic."
