May 1, 2001 13:34: I WAS interested to read the letter by DA Rusher (News Shopper, April 18).
I am no expert in these matters, but I know councils have to plan for growth in the services they offer.
The massive hike in the GLA's levy on London Boroughs may explain the council tax rise in Lewisham.
As a Lewisham citizen I would like to see the council spend more on improving roads and education, but I realise they cannot just wave a magic wand.
I am sure DA Rusher wants to see improved services too rather than just keeping council tax rises in line with inflation.
