DOZENS of competitors took to the fields for the Isle of Wight Ploughing Association's annual match.
Forty competitors entered eight different ploughing classes with Rob Richards, of Wroxall, named as overall champion.
The annual event is in its 118th year and was held adjacent to Billingham Farm on land owned by Mr and Mrs Fryer of Presford Farm, Shorwell.
Vice chair of the Isle of Wight Ploughing Association, Maurice Flux, said: "It is an excellent site with perfect conditions for ploughing, good soil, level field and we had bright sunshine.
"The good weather brought a large gathering of people interested in rural and farming matters to the ploughing match."
Four experienced judges travelled from Norfolk to judge the competition.
Two local judges decided on the best kept tractors in three different classes - modern tractors, vintage tractors dating from 1946 to 1959, and veteran tractors dating from earlier than 1946.
