VENTNOR'S annual carnival fireworks display, due to take place tonight (Wednesday), has been postponed.
The fireworks, which are organised and funded by the Spyglass Inn, have been put off until Saturday, due to the bad weather.
"Our fireworks display has become something of a tradition and this is the first year that we have had to postpone them.
"It's a real disappointment, but our fireworks supplier has been brilliant and has agreed to reschedule them at very short notice," said Meg Mortimer, of The Spyglass.
The fireworks display will take place after Saturday's Ventnor Illuminated Carnival, which is due to finish at the top of Bath Hill at 10pm.
Carnival organisers announced later that this evening's procession had also been cancelled.
