JUST because Bestival has moved to the mainland, doesn't mean you should miss out this weekend. 
Boutique music festival Eklectica kicks off this weekend at Robin Hill featuring internationally renowned tribute acts from Killer Queen to the Killerz, DJs, and a whole host of weird and wonderful performance arts. 
If you want to keep things a little more low key, it's the Last Night of the Proms tonight (Saturday) and All Saints Church in Newchurch is hosting a viewing party from 7pm. With the Isle of Wight's first ever Pride having been a great success, the organisers are hosting a Capture Your Pride photo exhibition this weekend and beyond at the Dimbola Museum. Prints will be available to buy with all proceeds going towards Pride 2018. 
It wouldn't be an Isle of Wight weekend without fun days, and this weekend you've got pick of the litter. 
The Griffin in Godshill is hosting a 12 hour extravaganza to raise money for children with autoimmune disorders. There will be the stalls, face painting, an art auction, live music, and even a spot of karaoke today (Saturday) from 10am until 10pm. 
Alternatively you could head over to the Porchfield Cricket Club family fun day from 2pm until 5pm. There will be a dog show, ferret racing, a barbecue, and the all important licensed bar. 
Tomorrow (Sunday) there will also be a fun day at the Gracellie Hotel, Shanklin, in aid of Bikes Against Bullies from 10am until 4pm. 
Take advantage of the Heritage Open Days this weekend at Newport Roman Villa and the Museum of Island History with free entry today (Saturday). You can also enjoy free entry over at the Havenstreet Steam Railway Station tomorrow (Sunday) where there will be a variety of old-world activities for you to enjoy. 
The self-styled 'greatest failure of rock and roll' John Otway will be performing at Strings Bar and Venue tomorrow (Sunday) in Newport. Also known for his surreal sense of humour, he will be performing his new album Montserrat. Tickets are available online
