January 29, 2001 16:22: A 48-year-old man had his wallet and a small amount of cash stolen in a late night knife attack which occurred on Penge High Street.
The terrified victim was forced to lie face down on the pavement by his attackers who sprung out from behind a telephone booth and suddenly pounced on him, waving a knife in front of his face.
The attacker lifted the bottom of the victim's coat over his face so it became difficult for him to identify his assailant.
When the victim was lying on the floor, the mugger removed his wallet.
He then left the scene and ran away into Penge Recreation Ground.
The attacker is described as black, 18, 5ft 8ins with medium short black hair.
Police are seeking anyone who witnessed the incident, which happened on January 17, at around 11.40pm.
If you are able to provide police with any more information about the attack, you can call PC Sarah Fisher on 020 8284 8052.
