A WOMAN has been airlifted to St Mary's Hospital after being pulled from the sea at Ryde Harbour.
Following a 999 call from the scene, paramedics and coastguard crews rushed to the woman's aid shortly after 12pm today (Friday).
Ryde Inshore Rescue chair Martin Osborne said he understood the woman was unconscious when she was pulled from the water.
She was taken to hospital by the UK Coastguard helicopter and admitted to the Emergency Department.
A UK Coastguard spokesperson said: “At around 12.15pm today, UK Coastguard received a call from a member of the public reporting a person in the water in difficulty at Ryde Harbour approximately 200 metres off shore. 
“Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, Ryde Inshore Rescue and the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Lee on Solent were sent to the scene. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were also in attendance. 
“The person was airlifted from the water just after 12.25pm and taken to the hospital.   
“We have no further information at this stage.”
