STARS of beach soccer will descend on Appley today (Sunday) for the latest event in the English Championships.
The teams, including the Isle of Wight, will be competing for a place in next year's beach soccer European Championships.
Former England player Jamie O'Rourke is the Island team's head coach.
Other sides taking part include Portsmouth FC and Arsenal FC, who won yesterday's (Saturday's) Super Cup.
Matches get under way today at 11am.
Luke Kerr, general manager of Elite Soccer, which runs Isle of Wight Beach Soccer, said: "We would like to thank Ryde Taxis, Island Scaffold and Ryde Town Council for their continued support.
"Without their help Isle of Wight beach soccer would not be here and now is an exciting time for the sport in England, with many young Island players getting the chance to play for the country and compete in the European Club Championships.
"It's hugely important the Isle of Wight is at the forefront of beach soccer as a developing sport, not just here but on a national stage."
