THE red carpet bus route in Newport's Church Litten has been rolled up.
Cllr Ian Ward, the IW Council cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “The bus lane in Church Litten was only ever in place as a temporary measure while the South Street bus station development was under construction.
“Now that work has been completed, the temporary bus lane has been removed.
“However, elements of the traffic system in place during construction have been found to improve the general flow of traffic through the town.
“Therefore, Church Litten will remain a one-way system, although traffic entering South Street at its northern junction will have the option of either turning left towards Upper St James’s Street or right towards Coppins Bridge.”
