BUS SERVICES UNDER THREAT

ISLAND bus users have been warned to brace themselves for cuts in little-used services.

The IW Council is considering the level of subsidies to Southern Vectis for evening, early morning and weekend buses.

IW Council director of environment and neighbourhoods Stuart Love said: “In deciding which services we may choose to subsidise, we need to weigh up the viability of supporting services that are evidently not widely used with the need to spend taxpayers’ money prudently.

“The council is committed to supporting bus travel on the Island and spends millions each year doing this.”
