Award for Andy to take pride in
Site manager Andy Corbin.
A SITE manager working for an IW-based building firm has scooped a prestigious award for his work on a new housing development at Oakfield.
Andy Corbin, who works for Stoneham Construction, based at Havenstreet, won a Pride in the Job seal of excellence award from the National House Builders Confederation (NHBC) at a ceremony held in Weston Super Mare.
The awards ceremony, dubbed the Oscars of the building industry, was to celebrate excellent work by builders in the south west of Britain.
The rigorous Pride in the Job judging is based on 38 areas of site management, including technical expertise, quality control and health and safety, with each site manager assessed over 12 months to ensure standards remain consistently high.
Jim Lyons, NHBC’s regional director for the south west, said: "Site managers are responsible for managing and delivering new homes for home buyers. Although it’s been a difficult year, our winning site managers bring dedication and expertise to every aspect of the new homes they build, from foundations through to final handover. Each one of them has demonstrated the necessary attitude and ability to tackle difficult challenges wherever they arise to ensure their customers buy homes of the highest quality."
David Harris, from Stoneham Construction, said: "The project at Oakfield was always going to be difficult in the time allowed. Andy made a tremendous effort and, with his site foreman, Steve Goodall, has constructed a quality development we can all be proud of."
