A GROUP of friends at a birthday bash got their teeth into a meaty challenge.
William Bossman and 13 friends took on the 1lb burger at Phil’s Diner, Newport, as he celebrated his 20th birthday.
All but two finished the mountainous meal, served with onion rings, chips and salad for good measure.
"We all went out afterwards but were so full we could hardly drink anything," said William, of Coronation Avenue, Northwood.
Cafe co-owner Phil Sandercock said the cafe sold around one or two of the burgers a week, with T-shirts awarded to anyone who completed the challenge.
"William phoned us and told us what he wanted to do, so we opened the diner up especially for him and his friends," said Phil.
