AFTER being made redundant last year, gardener David Hagger decided it was time to take action.

With former colleague John Bradbury, David has set up his own landscaping and design business, Beautiful Gardens.

Aimed primarily at the luxury market, David and John specialise in creating and maintaining bespoke gardens, designing indoor horticultural displays and feng shui.

"Business is going very well, as we have found a niche, working mostly in large houses, second homes and hotels," said David, who has been in the gardening business all his life.

"After being made redundant, I want to let people know that if you have no job and no income, don’t despair.

"Just think clearly about what you are good at and how you can make money from it by working for yourself."
