A TATTOOIST hopes to make his mark after returning to his roots to open a parlour.
Islander James Fleming, 31, has recently opened Flemink, in High Street, Ryde, after five years working in America as a snowboard instructor, as well as part-time tattooist.
It is his first business and he hopes to use his experience of working abroad to his advantage.
"I had great fun working in America but I always hoped to open a tattoo parlour on the Island and I am really excited about Flemink," said Mr Fleming, of Fairview Crescent, Sandown.
Flemink is a custom tattoo parlour, meaning customers come up with an idea and James works on the design.
"It could be a customer comes in two or three times before we finalise the design but it’s important to get it right," said James, who studied A-level art at Sandown High School.
Tattooist Jamie Blair will work alongside James at the parlour, situated in the same premises as the extreme sports shop, Revolver.
