AN Island company has been recognised for the quality of its management.

Island Fire Alarms, which was established in 1973, has received the ISO 9001:2008 mark after two years of work.

Company boss Phil Miles praised BusinessLink advisor Graham White, who helped the company through the process.

"He was absolutely amazing. The ISO recognition shows how strong our management processes are," he said.

The company has also recently joined the Electrical Contractors’ Association, which represents electrical engineering an building services, and is soon to join British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE), which works to improve standards in fire safety.

As well as proving its business credentials, the company has also made steps to help the environment, by trading in two Transit vans for smaller vehicles.

"We wanted to reduce our carbon footprint and increase efficiency," said Mr Miles.
