THE governor of the Bank of England visited the Island last Friday to meet with members of the Isle of Wight business community.
At a lunch at Lakeside Park Hotel, Wootton, organised by the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, Tourism and Industry, Mervyn King gave a speech on the state of the UK economy before taking questions.
He said he enjoyed his visit, which gave him the chance to learn first-hand of the issues confronting Isle of Wight businesses.
Chamber chief executive Kevin Smith said: "We were delighted to welcome Mr King to the Island for what was a stimulating and informative session for everyone involved."
