A DESIGN firm that has worked with some of the biggest names in Island industry and architecture is approaching its 30th anniversary.

MedTec Design Services was founded in 1981 by current directors John Durrell and Peter Hodgson and provides design, draughting, animation and engineering services.

The Cowes-based firm now employs around 12 staff at its Medina Village offices, plus others working as contractors at the offices of clients.

The success of the firm has been partly due to its use of young Island talent.

"Medtec has offered training to many young engineers who are now working for bigger companies. People gain invaluable knowledge here and training is very important to us," Mr Durrell.

The company has worked with a host of major businesses with Island operations as well as the Ministry of Defence and mainland clients.

Mr Durrell added: "There is no barrier to serving remote clients any more, as any part of the world is only a click away."
