Shenley came back from the dead to beat Roop by a single run on Sunday.

Only 86 runs were on the board as Shenley closed their innings.

But some tight bowling, with Tony Shadbolt (2 for 21), Craig Roseman (3 for 13) and Dave Stubbs (4 for15) in formidable form, left the visitors reeling on 77 for 8.

A tight finish was guaranteed when Roop lost their eighth wicket on 78, off the bowling of Roseman.

In the next over, Stubbs bowled a no ball which reached the boundary to leave the visitors needing two to win.

A fired-up Roseman bowled the last man for 5, earning his side victory by one run.

Shenley's batsmen never came to terms with the opposition's bowling attack on the good pitch.

At one stage, Shenley were 46 for 6. Tony Shadbolt top-scored with 28.

Roop found themselves in trouble when they lost their opening batsmen with the first delivery and they too found it difficult to score runs.
