AFTER notching up an impressive scoreline of four victories, Cowes sailor Adam Gosling has won the Black Group overall at AAM Cowes Week.

At the helm of his Corby 36 'Yes!’, Gosling and his crew cemented their position at the top of the leader board with another emphatic win today (Friday).

They finished top of the class, ahead of local rival and last year’s class winner 'Strait Dealer’ (David Franks).

The penultimate day of the regatta delivered extremely close racing across the fleets with Jo Richards’ 'Woof’ taking her fifth bullet to win IRC 7 overall.

Today, Paul Dunstan’s 'Mandarin’ finished top of IRC 7B but it wasn’t enough to leapfrog 'Madelaine’ (Madelaine and Isobella Donald) to win the class overall.

Local boat, Jiminy Cricket (Mike and Barbara Harrison) finished third today and third overall.

'Gazelle’ (Minka Armitage) won today’s Cruiser (Div B) race to secure the class victory while 'Little Spirit’ (Brian Cooper) came third overall.

Peter Newland’s 'Anticipation’, meanwhile, finished second in the First 40.7 class to secure third place overall in class.

In the White Group, 'Defender’ (J. Preston, P. Morton and R. Laird) came second behind 'Dauntless’ in the Darings.

Graham Bailey proved unstoppable in the Dragons notching up another win at the helm of 'Aimee’ with Bertie (Simon Barter) in second and 'Jerboa’ (Gavia Wilkinson-Cox) in third.

Mark Downer kept the pressure up in the Etchells finishing ahead of the current class leader, 'Darling S’ (Tarra Gill-Taylor).

'Ffuraha’ (Mike Boll and Gil McCutcheon), lying third overall in the Flying 15s, came third today behind the current leaders, the dominent 'Men Behaving Badly’ and 'Black’.

Meanwhile, Colin Simonds’ 'Doolalli’ finished second behind 'Rascal’ in the J/80s, while 'Darwin Property’ (Charlie Esse) cemented its position at the top of the J/80s (modified) with another win today (third in the Sportsboat class).

Local boat 'King Louie’ (Fiona and Malcolm Thorpe) clinched another bullet in the J/105s, while 'Basic Instinct’ (Patrick Seely) secured second place in the J/109s.

Other Island successes today included wins for 'Kandoo III’ (Crauford) in the RS Elites to secure the overall class title, 'Jenny’ (Andy Cassell and Ken Newman) in the Sonars and 'Aquabat’ (Fred Warren-Smith) in the Squibs.
