Agony for disabilities side

CRICKET

THERE was agony for the IW Disabilities side as the weather ended their hopes of making it to the semi-finals of the ECB Disabilities County Championship.

After having to switch their home game with Hampshire from the IW to the mainland because of a lack of ground availability, IW travelled over to Eastleigh knowing a win would see them go to the semi-finals later in the month.

But the rain arrived just after they did, and by 2.50pm, the umpires decided they had seen enough and abandoned the game. What made things worse for the IW team was to arrive home to find it sunny and dry, perfect for a game.

The abandonment means Hampshire and Surrey progress.
